Arkeia provides Windows backup and recovery solutions for desktop and server operating systems. With specialized agents, applications and databases such as Exchange Server, SQL Server, SharePoint, and Hyper-V are protected without any interruption in service. Although the Arkeia catalog server is only available on Linux and UNIX platforms, Windows is a supported platform for the media server, allowing organizations to take advantage of storage devices attached to Windows machines.

The standard Windows file agent allows administrators to backup and recover:

Windows Hot Backup Agents

Active Directory

Exchange Server

Access to e-mail is a mission-critical business requirement. As Microsoft Exchange continues to be the market leader in enterprise messaging software, reliable backup and recovery solutions are becoming essential for business continuity. Arkeia provides full protection of Microsoft Exchange environments with support for full, copy, incremental and differential backups of Information Stores, Storage Groups, and databases. By leveraging the Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) and Volume Shadow-Copy Service (VSS) APIs, backups are done while the Exchange Server is online with no interruption in service. Virtualization adoption has experienced exponential growth across the board in SMBs and enterprises. As a standard feature of Windows Server 2008 at no additional cost, Microsoft’s Hyper-V continues to gain market share as a viable hypervisor. Arkeia Software announced with Arkeia Network Backup version 8.2 the Hyper-V Backup Agent, which allows image-level VSS based backups of Hyper-V virtual machines. SQL Server

One of the fastest growing relational database management systems, Microsoft SQL Server is used by many organizations, big and small, for a wide range of business-critical applications. Arkeia provides full protection of Microsoft SQL Server environments with support for full, incremental, and differential backups of entire SQL Servers, individual instances, individual databases, and files or file groups. Windows Media Server

The Arkeia Network Backup Remote Storage Option (RSO) enables Windows platforms to serve as media servers, allowing administrators to take advantage of attached storage devices, including disk and tape, to store backup data. The RSO provides a LAN-free backup, reducing bandwidth requirements of the local network. Media servers can store the backup data of any Arkeia file agent, including Linux, UNIX, and Mac OS X, and also specialized agents such as Exchange, MySQL, and VMware. Windows Disaster Recovery

Arkeia Disaster Recovery increases business continuity by reducing the amount of time required to recover entire systems. Unlike traditional recoveries, bare-metal restores through Arkeia Disaster Recovery quickly recovers entire systems, including Windows system configuration and registry files. Backups can be performed while systems are online and running without causing any interruptions and systems are fully restored to the state of their most recent backup.
